Fuck that sounds amazing. I also happen to love that version of the Z anyways, so its a double win.

It's really a shame that the new Z4 didn't get a proper M version. I've driven my boss' supercharged and track-prepped Z4M roadster, and it's nothing short of incredible.

First, a small part of me wishes the S54 in my M3 will go kaput so I can stuff a S65 in there.
Secondly, this makes me very sad because BMW never made a coupe or M version of the E89.

I want to see an S65 shoehorned into an E89 so badly. I think I'd do that instead of SC'ing the N52 on the Z4 if I ever buy it. It'd be cool to have the only roadgoing E89 M! And what a sound, I just watched the whole way through.

And Jay's hunt for an E89 with a blown engine commences...

They still could do it! Obviously all hope of it getting the V8 is gone, but really I can't imagine it being too hard to get the new M3/4 engine in there.

I think we'd have seen it already if it was coming for this gen.
But there's this: http://jalopnik.com/hell-yes-the-b…

I know :( …. I'm just trying to be hopefully optimistic. But I don't know if this gen is sales flop, or if they just sell low volumes no matter what. I'm hoping it's not roaring success makes them see the error of their ways and give the consumer more focused versions (ala Cayman S/GTS/GT3 [if thats coming]).

And it was over before it started!
Albeit a really clean example that doesn't belong to me (My parent on my mother's side bought a 30i Msport 6MT in April that got me started on the whole thing). In fact, too clean to hack up. Although if I do somehow end up financially stable, an S65 swap would make it car-famous. Failing that pipe dream, I'd love to swap in some sort of M3 electric steering rack to reduce numbness. Then some AA or SS headers, an exhaust (have you heard what Laptorr exhausts sound like?), some KW coilovers, chassis stiffening, Quaiffe LSD, and some work done to the intake. With a good tune, that would make for 35i performance. My long term plan includes keeping the C4 as a weekend car, though, so I'd need to put a custom-made hard top on the Z4 to give it some sort of purpose. Then it would have to be S65 swapped to be a proper M coupe. And I'd most likely be broke at that point, because both of those things would be very expensive, but it would look and sound unbelievable. I've put far too much thought into this stuff, particularly ways to build the N52 to 500 hp at the flywheel, which is actually realistic.
